If you’re taking CRESTOR® (rosuvastatin calcium) as prescribed, you've already made a change in your life
that can make a difference in your cholesterol. By following your doctor’s advice, taking CRESTOR, eating right,
and exercising, you're doing the things that may help you manage your cholesterol levels. Doing these things
may also help you slow the gradual buildup of plaque in the arteries, a disease called atherosclerosis.
Getting started
Now that you have a prescription for CRESTOR, getting started is easy.
- Take CRESTOR exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Try to take it at the same time every day so you don’t forget
- Swallow each tablet whole. You can take CRESTOR with or without food
- For the best results, keep working on eating a healthy diet and staying active most days of the week, as recommended by your doctor
- Ask your doctor how soon you should return for a follow-up blood test to monitor your progress
- Keep CRESTOR out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature (20° to 25°C, or 68° to 77°F) and in a dry place
Staying on track
Along with taking CRESTOR, following a healthy diet, and staying active, it's also important to work with your doctor to keep track of the progress you are making in lowering your cholesterol. Don't forget to talk to your doctor before making any changes to your cholesterol-lowering plan. Being open and honest will allow your doctor to see how well each part of your program is working.
With any prescription medication, it’s important to follow your doctor’s advice about how to take the medicine. If you’re taking CRESTOR, don’t stop taking it or change your dose without talking with your doctor first. As with other therapies for high cholesterol, after stopping therapy with CRESTOR, your cholesterol will gernerally return to the levels they were at before you began therapy. Do not take CRESTOR if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant. CRESTOR may harm your unborn baby. If you become pregnant, stop taking CRESTOR and call your health care professional right away.
