Down with the bad, up with the good.
Making changes in lifestyle can make a difference
If you have high cholesterol — or if someone you care about has high cholesterol —
making a few key changes may help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol, raise HDL (good)
cholesterol, and slow the gradual buildup of plaque in the arteries,
a disease called atherosclerosis. One of those changes may be to start an open
and honest discussion with your doctor about possible lifestyle changes you can
start making today. And when lifestyle changes aren’t enough, your doctor may
talk to you about CRESTOR® (rosuvastatin calcium).
CRESTOR is a prescription medication that has been proven effective in clinical
trials in treating high cholesterol. One of these trials demonstrated the
effectiveness of CRESTOR at lowering high cholesterol specifically in Hispanic-American
patients. Another trial proved that CRESTOR can also help slow plaque buildup as
part of a treatment plan to lower cholesterol levels to goal.
Even if you or someone you love feels perfectly healthy, high cholesterol can still
be a problem. If you or a loved one has high cholesterol, plaque buildup may be
something to be concerned about. Other health factors, such as diabetes, high blood
pressure, or a family history of early heart disease, or if you or a loved one smokes
or is overweight, can also play a role in plaque buildup.
Some diseases, such as diabetes, call for close cholesterol management. Your doctor or
pharmacist is your best resource for advice about your individual situation as you
work toward reaching cholesterol goals.
